About the coast of Acapulco

The port of Acapulco faces the Pacific with two bays, Santa Lucía and Puerto Marqués, whose beaches have different kinds of surf. Its beaches are grouped into three tourist zones: Tradicional, Dorada and Diamante. Caleta, Caletilla, Tlacopanocha and Manzanillo are in the Tradicional zone, near La Roqueta island, in the southwest of the bay. The Diamante zone runs from Icacos to Barra Vieja and includes the bay of Puerto Marqués and Revolcadero beach. To the west is the Laguna de Coyuca and to the east the Laguna de Tres Palos. The Parque Nacional El Veladero, declared in 1980, lies in the amphitheater of the bahía de Santa Lucía.
