Pie de la Cuesta lies about 10 km northwest of the port of Acapulco, on the sandbar that separates Laguna de Coyuca from the Pacific Ocean. The beach faces the open sea and is known for its strong surf and its sunsets over the Pacific horizon. On the other side of the bar, Laguna de Coyuca is used for boat tours and waterskiing. Base Aérea Militar No. 7 is in the area. Horseback rides are also offered along the shore.
