Playa El Morro sits midway along Santa Lucía Bay, beside Avenida Costera Miguel Alemán and very close to the Diana traffic circle, between Papagayo and Condesa. It takes its name from the rocky islet just offshore, El Morro or Farallón del Obispo. According to tradition, the islet got that name from a priest who, in the mid-17th century, drowned returning from it after praying for a storm to pass. It is an urban beach with views of the islet and the bay.
