About Playa Hornos

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Playa Hornos lies in the northwest of Acapulco Bay, in the Acapulco Tradicional zone, beside Avenida Costera Miguel Alemán. It is an urban beach of fine sand lined with palm trees, with gentle to moderate surf depending on the season. Its name comes from the kilns that, in colonial times, produced materials for port works such as the Fuerte de San Diego. With the first hotels, from the 1930s on, it became one of the port's traditional beaches. On its southwest side there is an old pier and many boats: in the mornings it is a working spot for fishermen.
