About the coast of Mazatlán

Mazatlán's malecón, about 21 km long along the Pacific shore, runs from the Centro Histórico northward, lined with beaches. Next to the center is Olas Altas, the beach with the deepest historical ties; then comes Playa Norte, on Avenida del Mar; then the Zona Dorada, with Gaviotas and Camarón Sábalo, and farther north Cerritos. Facing the port are the three islands of Mazatlán, Pájaros, Venados and Lobos or Chivos, a protected natural area. North of the city, Playa El Verde Camacho is a sea turtle sanctuary.
