About Playa Olas Altas
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
Beach about 550 m (1,800 ft) long at the southern end of Mazatlán's malecón, next to the Centro Histórico. It is the city's most historic beach: one of the first used for leisure, and its malecón still has monuments and old buildings. It is a well-known surf spot, with often strong waves. The sand shifts with the seasons and sometimes leaves rocks exposed. During Carnival it is the traditional venue of the Combate Naval, a fireworks show over the bay.
