Stretch of urban beach in Mazatlán along Avenida del Mar, part of the malecón, at the Monumento al Pescador. Sources disagree on where Playa Norte begins: some place it south of the monument, others have it start there and run toward the Zona Dorada. Next to the monument the surf is usually calm, and it builds to the north. It is a city beach, with the malecón running along the shore for walking, jogging and watching the sunset, and buildings and hotels across the avenue.
