Small bay on the Riviera Maya, between Xcaret and Puerto Aventuras, about 15 km south of Playa del Carmen along the federal highway to Tulum. Just offshore there is a reef that can be reached by swimming and explored with a snorkel; because of it, the sea in the bay usually has gentle waves. It is one of the sea turtle nesting beaches where the group Flora, Fauna y Cultura de México sets up turtle camps in season. Its name translates from Maya as "hill or destroyed ruin".
