About Playa Cuachalalate
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
Playa Cuachalalate is on Isla Ixtapa, also called Isla Grande, an islet off the coast of Ixtapa a few hundred meters from the mainland. It is reached by boat from the Playa Linda pier, a short ride. It takes its name from the cuachalalate, a medicinal tree. It is one of the island's beaches, along with Varadero and Coral. Cuachalalate and Varadero are on the side of the island sheltered from the open sea, with calmer waters; Coral faces the open sea and has a small reef. The islet covers about 34 hectares.
