About Playa Telchac
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
Telchac Puerto is a small fishing port and municipal seat on the northern coast of Yucatán, about 65 kilometers northeast of Mérida and half an hour from Progreso along the coastal road. Alongside fishing, it draws beach tourism. The water is shallow near the shore and the bottom slopes gradually. Waves are usually moderate, up to a meter high, and build with northers: in December, January and February they reach two meters. The word “Puerto” sets it apart from Telchac Pueblo, inland.
