Santa Clara is the small port of the municipality of Dzidzantún, on the northern coast of Yucatán, an hour and a half from Mérida along the coastal road through Progreso and Telchac Puerto. It keeps the pace of a fishing village, with boats pulled up on the beach and little tourist infrastructure. It is open sea with generally gentle waves. Behind the town there are mangroves and wetlands where birds can be seen.
