About Playa Dzilam Bravo

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Dzilam de Bravo is a fishing port and municipal seat on the northern coast of Yucatán, about 106 kilometers from Mérida. Its eastern part lies within the Bocas de Dzilam State Reserve, a natural protected area; some 20 kilometers to the east are the Bocas de Dzilam, mangrove-lined channels reached by boat. The beaches west of the port are narrow and almost flat, and the sea is very shallow, with very small waves. Local tradition holds that the pirate Jean Lafitte was buried here, which historians doubt.
