About Playa Chuburná Puerto

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Chuburná Puerto is a coastal town in the municipality of Progreso, about 20 kilometers west of the port of Progreso. It is built on the strip of sand that separates the sea from the ciénaga, a lagoon-estuary system, and has a sheltered harbor for fishermen. East of the harbor the beach is wide with a gentle slope. It is a summer vacation town, busiest in the summer months. In 1663 it was named a lookout settlement for defending the coast against pirates.
