Playa Norte is Ciudad del Carmen's best-known city beach, on the Gulf of Mexico shore of Isla del Carmen. It runs for about three kilometers of white sand with a seafront promenade, and this point is its eastern section, farther from downtown. It is where local families go, and it faces the sunset over the Gulf. The island is part of the Laguna de Términos Flora and Fauna Protection Area.
