About Playa Celestún

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Celestún is a fishing town at the western end of the Yucatán coast, near the Campeche state line, about 95 kilometers from Mérida. The town lies between the Gulf of Mexico and the Celestún ría, a mangrove-lined estuary running parallel to the coast, and is the main settlement of the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, known for its flamingos. The beach faces the town on the sea side; boat trips on the ría leave from the bridge at the town entrance.
