About Playa Tecolutla

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Playa Tecolutla is the beach of the town of Tecolutla, the municipal seat, in northern Veracruz, next to the mouth of the Tecolutla River, which is channeled by breakwaters. Its waves are usually gentle, except during the winter nortes. It is the northern end of the Costa Esmeralda, the beach corridor that runs south along Federal Highway 180. Behind the coast are estuaries, channels and more than 800 hectares of mangroves linked to the river, which can be toured by boat from the town's docks. Tecolutla is about 190 km north of the port of Veracruz.
