Playa Casitas is in the town of Casitas, in the municipality of Tecolutla, on the Costa Esmeralda, the beach corridor of northern Veracruz between Nautla and Tecolutla. Casitas lies beside Federal Highway 180, about 39 km southeast of the municipal seat. Guides describe its waves as calm to moderate. It has a river, estuaries and mangroves nearby, which can be toured by boat. The original pre-Hispanic settlement of Nautla stood on this site.
