Playa Punta Puntilla is in La Puntilla, on the coast of the municipality of Ángel R. Cabada, north of Federal Highway 180. It marks the western end of the northern coast of Los Tuxtlas, which runs about 30 km from here to Punta Escondida, in Catemaco. La Puntilla is a small village of fishermen and shellfish gatherers. Ángel R. Cabada is one of the municipalities covered by the Reserva de la Biosfera Los Tuxtlas, decreed in 1998.
