About the coast of Puerto Escondido

Puerto Escondido is on the Costa of Oaxaca, in the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec; Zicatela, to the east, belongs to Santa María Colotepec. In its bay, the Bahía Principal, the main activities are fishing and tourism, and on the east side fishermen beach their boats. To the west are Puerto Angelito, a pocket beach sheltered by rocky points, and Bacocho, an open beach. The water at Carrizalillo is calmer. To the east, Zicatela is an open beach known internationally for surfing; beyond it, the coast runs on to the mouth of the Colotepec River.
