Playa Viaducto is in Sabancuy, a fishing town in the municipality of Carmen, on the Gulf of Mexico coast next to the Sabancuy estuary, a mangrove wetland crossed by the access bridge. Sabancuy's beach has generally gentle waves and shallow water. Boat trips through the estuary channels leave from Sabancuy. The area is part of the Laguna de Términos Flora and Fauna Protection Area.
