Playa Boca del Río sits at the mouth of the Champotón River, at the entrance to the town of Champotón, on the sea side next to the bridge. Here the river's fresh water meets the Gulf of Mexico, forming an estuary lined with mangroves, with gentle water. It is the main beach area for Champotón's residents and gets busy during Holy Week and in December.
