Beach in downtown San Felipe, along the Malecón, facing San Felipe Bay on the Gulf of California. It is the beach of a town that lives on tourism and fishing and draws visitors from Mexicali, Southern California and Arizona. The bay has some of the largest tides in the world: at low tide the water can pull back about two kilometers, exposing the sandy bottom. Waves in the northern gulf are usually minimal, with no strong shore break.
