Beach on the upper Gulf of California about 15 km north of the port of San Felipe, in front of the El Dorado Ranch residential development, which stretches for several kilometers along the Mexicali–San Felipe highway. The coast here is low and sandy, without vegetation, backed by plains that rise toward the inland ranges, and the tides are very large: at low tide the sea pulls back a long way. Waves in the northern gulf are usually minimal, with no strong shore break.
