A stretch of the Nuevo Nayarit beach (formerly Nuevo Vallarta), in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, about 15 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport. It is part of a long, continuous strip of sand at the head of Banderas Bay that runs north to Bucerías. Its water is usually calm. Behind the beach is a resort and residential development with hotels, canals and a marina. In season, sea turtles nest on these beaches and conservation groups protect the nests.
