By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The town beach of Bucerías, on the north shore of Banderas Bay in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, between La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Nuevo Nayarit. It is a long, open strip of sand, part of the sandy shoreline that runs for kilometers north and south along the bay. Its waves are usually calm. Bucerías began as a fishing village; its name refers to the divers who gathered oysters on this coast. The town reaches down to the sand and sits about 20 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport on Federal Highway 200. The beach is known among kitesurfers.
