A beach at the mouth of the Cuale River, in downtown Puerto Vallarta. The river comes down from the mountains and divides the city: the Centro lies to the north and the Zona Romántica (Old Vallarta) to the south. Just upstream from the mouth is Isla del Cuale, linking the two neighborhoods with footbridges.
