About Playa Mismaloya

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

The beach of the village of Mismaloya, in a cliff-ringed cove about 13 km south of downtown Puerto Vallarta on Federal Highway 200. It is an inlet sheltered from the open sea, with generally gentle waves, about 350 meters long, with a river meeting the sea at one side and a view of the Los Arcos rocks. John Huston filmed The Night of the Iguana (1963) here; the remains of the set still stand on the rocky point on the south side. Pangas leave the beach for Los Arcos, for snorkeling, and for the beaches farther south on the bay. It is also a fishing village.
