Bahía de Kino is a town in the municipality of Hermosillo on the coast of the Gulf of California. It is a fishing and tourist center. The bay has calm waters. About 35 km to the north begins the Canal del Infiernillo, a narrow sea channel between the central coast of Sonora and Tiburón Island, with estuaries and mangroves; it is a Ramsar site. The land around the channel belongs to the Comcaac (Seri) people, and Tiburón Island, the largest in the country, is an ecological reserve.
