Beach at El Cochórit, a small beach community in the municipality of Empalme, on the Gulf of California coast. The name comes from the Yaqui language (Kocho'ori); before the Spanish arrived, the Guaymas and Yaqui peoples lived here. It is a seasonal destination, visited mostly during holidays. Together with the Playas del Sol, it makes up the beach stretch of Empalme's coastline. It is a beach about 3.5 km long, shallow and gently sloping, backed by low dunes, with generally low surf and a small tidal range.
