Beach of the fishing town of Sánchez Magallanes, in the municipality of Cárdenas, on the Tabasco coast. The town sits on the Barra de Santa Ana, a narrow peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna del Carmen, surrounded by water and mangrove islets. From October to March the nortes arrive, cold fronts that bring rain and strong wind and build up the waves. Fishing, especially oysters in the Carmen-Pajonal-Machona lagoon system, is the main activity. It is reached by state road from Federal Highway 180.
